CNE – One of the top designation courses in real estate taught nationally by the Real Estate Negotiation Institute. This 2-day course offers professional negotiation and business building training.

CRS – Certified Residential Specialist is a professional designation provided by the Council of Residential Specialists, also affiliated with the National Association of Realtors. To earn the CRS designation, a Realtor® must have significant experience and demonstrate volume of real estate transactions or gross sales, as well as complete rigorous educational requirements. Only 9 percent of all licensed Realtors® are Certified Residential Specialists.

GRI — Graduate, Realtor Institute is a professional designation for those who have graduated from the Realtor Institute. The GRI designation is the nation’s #1 real estate designation. It is granted through state associations whose institute courses of study meet the standards established by the National Association of REALTORS, and is available only to members of National Association of Realtors. Graduates must take a total of 12 course days or 90 curriculum hours covering various areas of real estate. Each course includes a written exam. Approx. 18% of Realtors® have earned the GRI designations

ABR — Accredited Buyer Representative is a professional designation from the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC), which is a part of the National Association of Realtors. To obtain the ABR designation, agents must be members of the National Association of Realtors, take a two-day course, pass a written exam, close at least five real estate buyer transactions, and receive letters of recommendation from at least two of their previous buyer clients. There are over 40,000 ABR designees, approx. 11% of all Realtors®.

SRES – Seniors Real Estate Specialist – By earning the SRES® Designation, your REALTOR® has demonstrated the necessary knowledge and expertise to counsel clients age 50+ through major financial and lifestyle transitions involved in relocating, refinancing, or selling the family home. Your SRES® has received special training, gets regular updates, and is prepared to offer the options and information needed in making life changing decisions

e-PRO is an on-line training program to certify real estate agents as internet professionals and is associated with the National Association of Realtors. The percentage of Realtors® with the e-PRO certification is approximately 8%.

To be called a Realtor, a real estate professional must be a member of the National Association of Realtors. There are over 750,000 members. However, if someone is NOT identifying themselves as a Realtor, they are probably not a member – and therefore, not a Realtor (Realtor is a registered trademarked name). Realtors are expected to fulfill minimum education requirements and abide by a published code of ethics.
